Alfred Taggart (son of Alfred & Emma Taggart) married Cecile Caffro (daughter of Peter & Daisy Caffro) on April 29, 1936, in Pringles, S.D.

Together they had five children.  Their first two children were born in Rushville, Nebraska. Together the family moved to Lakeview/Paisley Oregon in the early 1940s and to the Terrebonne/Redmond Oregon area in 1944. The remaining three children were born in Terrebonne Or. All five children attended Terrebonne grade school and Redmond High school.

Al retired from the Teamster's Union working as a delivery truck driver for Consolidated Freight. He enjoyed fishing with the family, gardening, and rock collecting. Cecile was bunk-house cook in early days, and a nurse later in life. She loved to cook.

Al and Cecile both passed away while living in Redmond. Their remains are scattered at local area lakes.

My Memories

This is Grandma and Grandpa "Tiger" I remember.

Grandma and Grandpa lived on a farm in Terrebonne when I was growing up. They had many animals and all the grand kids would argue about which ones got to go with Grandpa to do chores. He would often choose me because he knew I was afraid of the chicken. Any kid who helped with chores had to reach into the hens nests to collect eggs. Grandpa's chickens didn’t take to kindly to anyone reaching into their nests! He always got a kick out of watching us try to sneak under the hens without being pecked.

Grandpa loved to joke around and pick at us grand kids, so Grandma use to spend a lot of her time trying to make Grandpa be good. You could always count on Grandpa to have change in his pocket which he enjoyed watching the grandkids beg for.

Grandma spent much of her time in the kitchen. Grandma was always good for a big hug and a stick of chewing gum from her purse. She was the enforcer in the house. When the grandkids were bad she would sit on us!! She was also the nurse who swabbed us with iodine after we tried to catch the wild barn kittens. Dang that stuff hurt. I'm still not sure if Grandma used iodine to disinfect our scratches or to teach us a lesson.
