My Memories
Daisy Caffro & Gr.-Grand daughter Danna
Grandma Caffro passed away when I was 14, but I still remember her well.
This is the Grandma I remember. Very petite, always a lady.
When I was young Grandma lived in the Redmond Hotel (senior apartments?) and I loved to go to visit her. She lived on the third floor so we got to ride the elevator! Her apartment was always spick-n-span, with hand crochet doillies layed over every arm rest of every couch and chair. Looking out the third story window was amazing to me. As a child it seemed like you could see the entire town. We had no elevators or tall buildings where I grew up. I loved to look thru Grandma's old photo albums. She would sit in her rocking chair and patiently tell me who was in each photo. I wish I had some of those photos now.
I remember Grandma having a large pacemaker in her chest that she always kept covered with a handkerchief. When I got older I found out that Grandma was Christian Science and didnt really believe in Doctors. When I questioned the pacemaker I was told that Grandma Caffro and Cecile, had a huge war over having it installed.....and Cecile (her daughter/my grandmother) won.
The pacemaker gave her several more years of life.
