Andreas and Fredrika Carle
Andrew and Fredrika Carle, along with their 5 children (ages 3 to 11), left Germany in 1882 on the ship SS MAAS and immigrated to the United States by way of New York. Andreas settled in Portland Oregon and is burried in Rose Hill Cemetary, Clackamas Oregon.
Fredrika later returned to Germany without her family.

The "Maas" was a 1,705 gross ton ship, length 255.3ft x beam 35.1ft, straight stem, one funnel, two masts, iron construction, single screw and a speed of 10 knots. There was accommodation for 8-1st and 288-3rd class passengers. On 24/10/1884 she was destroyed by fire at sea with no loss of life.
